Project: Rotten wood deck restoration

Situation: the backyard master bedroom deck had rotted support columns, beam, and rail posts.
How we fixed it:
- Removed the tiles from the deck, 24″ of decking, posts, rails, (2) 8′ columns and a 20′ support cross-beam
- Set up a temporary scaffold to shore up deck during repairs
- Homeowner had never serviced the deck and cracked seals at columns, beams, and posts allowed water intrusion and rot to compromise structural integrity
- Wood was custom-milled to size, prime, painted, and reinstalled
- Added concrete to pillars and upgraded galvanized connectors for strength
- Complex lift systems were required to get wood to upper deck
